Hourly pay formula

Gross pay = regular pay + overtime pay + premium pay + other earnings

Regular pay is regular hours multiplied by the base hourly rate. Overtime and premium hours use the multipliers you enter.

Time-and-a-half and double time

A 1.5 multiplier means the overtime rate is 150% of the base rate. A 2.0 multiplier means twice the base rate. Whether those multipliers apply depends on the rule you are trying to model.

Effective hourly rate

The effective rate divides total gross earnings by all hours entered. It can be useful when bonuses or premium hours make the average earnings per hour different from the base rate.

Gross pay is not take-home pay

This calculator does not estimate taxes, deductions, benefits, reimbursements, or payroll withholding. It is designed to show transparent gross earnings from the inputs you provide.
